New KSP Cadet Class Reports for Training
(Richmond, KY) - Seventy-five cadet troopers reported to Kentucky State Police headquarters in Frankfort today to begin 22 weeks of training at the State Police Academy. Included in the class are 71 white males and four white females. Ten of the cadets have previous law enforcement experience.
"These individuals have made a conscious decision to pursue a challenging law enforcement career as a Kentucky State Trooper," says KSP Commissioner Patrick N. Simpson. "Their journey won't be easy. They face a rigorous and demanding training period that will test their mental and physical stamina. Along the way, they'll learn new things about themselves and gain added confidence in their abilities. Those who successfully complete the training will join a select group who have earned the right to wear the distinctive gray uniform of the Kentucky State Police."
As part of their training, the cadets will learn the laws and statutes of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the history of the Kentucky State Police organization, as well as how to conduct accident and criminal investigations, drive pursuit vehicles, DUI enforcement, firearms training, first aid, and many other aspects of becoming a Kentucky State Police trooper. The cadets are expected to graduate October 18th, 2003.
