Kentucky State Police Observe
National Child Abuse Awareness & Prevention Month

(Frankfort, KY) -  Each year, close to three (3) million reports of suspected child abuse are filed in the United States. Many more cases may never get reported.

The Kentucky State Police, in partnership with Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky, as well as dedicated child advocates throughout the Commonwealth and across the nation recognize April as National Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month.

All Kentucky State Police vehicles will adorn a blue antenna ribbon as a constant reminder of the hidden dangers that affect our most vulnerable citizens.

The Kentucky State Police encourage the public to get involved. There is a lot you can do in your community to help prevent child abuse. You can know the warning signs of child abuse and report it. Be a nurturing parent. Reach out to your neighbors. Take part in prevention efforts. Help strengthen your community. Most importantly, protect your own children from abuse.

Educational information regarding physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse as well as neglect, is available from your local Kentucky State Police post

To learn how you can take part in prevention efforts, call 1-800-CHILDREN or visit the Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky web site at www.pcaky.org.
