KSP Announces Publication of 2004 Crime in Kentucky Report

(FRANKFORT, Ky.) -The Kentucky State Police announces the "2004 Crime in Kentucky" report has been completed and is now available to the public. In accordance with Chapter 17 of the Kentucky Revised Statutes and in cooperation with many Kentucky law enforcement agencies, the Kentucky State Police has collected and analyzed the Kentucky crime data for 2004.

"It must be noted that these crime statistics could not have been accurately compiled without the dedication and cooperation of all submitting law enforcement agencies throughout the Commonwealth," said Kentucky State Police Commissioner Mark L. Miller. "I am pleased the 'Crime in Kentucky' report has been completed by the required July 1st deadline. The publication of the report would not have been possible had it not been for the dedication of the staff and employees of the Criminal Identification and Records Branch. I am very proud of their hard work and diligence."

The report is a comprehensive review of serious crime that occurred in Kentucky in 2004 and contains detailed information on murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny, auto theft, and arson, as well as other categories. The report also details programs of interest such as domestic violence and hate/bias crimes. State arrest data has been compiled as well as DUI convictions by county. Important demographic law enforcement information is also published in the report as well as a review of law enforcement officers assaulted during 2004.

The "2004 Crime in Kentucky" report is available electronically on the Kentucky State Police web site. The site also contains the "Crime in Kentucky" reports for 1995-2003 as well as the annual "Traffic Collision Facts". These reports may be viewed at http://www.kentuckystatepolice.org/data.htm
