News Release

Two Killed in a Collision on US 460 in Pike County

Date of News Release: 02/23/2014

(Justiceville, Ky.) - On Saturday February 22, 2014 at 2:56 P.M. Post 9, Pikeville received a call of a two vehicle accident with injuries on U.S. 460 in the Justiceville community of Pike County. Information obtained at the scene indicates that Michael Wellman (46 years old) of Belcher, Ky. was traveling Westbound on U.S. 460 when his vehicle dropped off the roadway. Wellman over corrected his vehicle, causing the vehicle to cross into the Eastbound lane of U.S. 460 striking a Eastbound vehicle. The passenger in Michael Wellman's vehicle, (Jennifer Wellman 37 years old) was pronounced deceased at the scene. Michael Wellman was transported to Pikeville Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. The accident remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Trooper Ryan Hamilton.
