News Release

Two Killed on KY 1499 in Pike County

Date of News Release: 01/10/2014

(Mouthcard, Ky.) - On Thursday January 9, 2014 at 3:50 PM Post 9, Pikeville received a call of a two vehicle accident involving a commercial motor vehicle on KY 1499 in the Mouthcard community of Pike County. KSP Troopers and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement officers responded to the scene. Information obtained at the scene indicates that Crystal Reynolds 31 years old of Phyllis, KY was traveling North on KY 1499 when her vehicle crossed the centerline striking an unloaded tractor trailer coal truck owned by B.E.L. Transport Inc. Reynolds and her passenger Tonya Blankenship 32 years old of Hensley, WV. were pronounced deceased at the scene by Pike County Coroner Russell Roberts. Seatbelts were not in use at the time of the accident. The accident remains under investigation by KSP Trooper Bryan Layne.
