Mayslick Man Killed in a Motorcycle Collision on Kentucky 9 AA Highway

Date of News Release: 06/20/2014

(Maysville, KY) - On Thursday June 19, 2014 at 1650 hours, the Kentucky State Police in Morehead received a call from the Mason County Sheriff's Department requesting assistance with a fatal motor vehicle collision. Detective Toby Gardner, Trooper Jason Brown, Trooper Jared Wagner, Trooper Brad Watson, Sergeant Jeff Lewis and Captain Brian Bowling responded to the scene. Darren L. Hull, Mayslick, KY, was operating his Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on the Kentucky 9 AA Highway just north of Maysville, Kentucky. There were several vehicles in front of the Harley Davidson, which were also traveling northbound, and slowed down to a stop to allow a northbound vehicle to turn left onto Barry Lane. Mr. Hull was unable to stop and side-swiped a Chrysler passenger car stopped facing northbound. The Chrysler was operated by Deborah D. Basica of Kerrville, Texas. Mr. Hull crossed the center line and traveled onto the southbound lane of Kentucky 9. The Harley Davidson struck a Ford Escape traveling on the southbound lane. The Ford Escape was operated by Gloria M. Wright of Thealka, Kentucky. Mr. Hull was pronounced deceased at the scene by Mason County Coroner David Lawrence. The accident remains under investigation by Detective Toby Gardner.
