Robbery Investigation in Wolfe County

Date of News Release: 02/01/2014

(Campton, KY) - On Saturday, February 01, 2014 at 6:41 am, Kentucky State Police Morehead was contacted by Wolfe County Dispatch requesting assistance with an Assault on KY 191 in Wolfe County. Kentucky State Police, Powell County Sheriff's Department, Fish and Wildlife, Stanton PD, Clay City PD, and Montgomery County Sheriff's Department K9 responded to the scene. Upon arrival units made contact with Mr. Kevin McVey, 30 of Campton who stated that Mr. Boyd Roberts, 41 of Campton and Mr. James Johnson, 31 of Campton had broke into his mother's residence on KY 191 and stabbed him. Mr. McVey states that subjects left in a maroon 1996 Chevrolet Corsica and had taken several items from the residence, including firearms and tools. Units later located the vehicle abandoned on Hall Hill Rd in Stanton, Ky. Through further investigation it was determined that the vehicle belonged to Mr. Roberts. Mr. Roberts and Mr. Johnson were later located away from the vehicle and apprehended. Both Mr. Roberts and Mr. Johnson have been arrested and transported to the Powell County Jail. Both subjects are charged with Robbery, 1st Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Case remains under investigation by Trooper Grant Faulkner.
