December Activity with January Checkpoint

(Morehead, KY) - Kentucky State Police at Post 8 Morehead announce the final traffic and criminal activity report for December 2013. During December Post 8 personnel issued 1,760 total citations. Of those citations, 18 were for DUI, 140 were for Speeding, 125 for No Seat Belt, and 18 for Child Restraint. In addition, there were 1,640 Vehicle Inspections and 353 Courtesy Notices issued. Post 8 also investigated 67 Traffic Collisions. Post 8 personnel also investigated 1,059 Complaints. A total of 68 Criminal Cases were opened and 283 Criminal Arrests were made for the month of December 2013.
During the year of 2013 Post 8 personnel issued 23,251 total citations. Of those citations 353 were for DUI, 3,093 were for Speeding, 1,849 for No Seat Belt, and 191 were for Child Restraint. In addition, there were 22,190 Vehicle Inspections and 4,029 Courtesy Notices Issued. Post 8 also investigated 739 Traffic Collisions and investigated 14,324 complaints. A total of 913 Criminal Cases were opened and 3,628 Criminal Arrest were made for the year.
Additionally, Captain Brian Bowling, Commander of the Kentucky State Police at Morehead, announces that Troopers of the Morehead Post will be conducting Safety Checkpoints in addition to Moving Patrols throughout the Post 8 area during the entire month of January as well the remainder of the year 2014. Motorists are urged to be cautious and obey reduced speeds through road constructions.
This concentrated enforcement effort will utilize Troopers and Detectives assigned to and working the Morehead post area. Members of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) will also be utilized. They will focus on enforcing violations of Speeding, No Seat Belt, Child Restraint, Impaired Driving Laws, and Texting While Driving, as well as other violations of the Traffic Laws of Kentucky.
