UPDATE: Wanton Endangerment Arrest in Rowan County

Date of News Release: 01/02/2014

(Morehead, KY) - On January 1, 2014 Kentucky State Police in Morehead received a call that Johnathan Prater was at Saint Joseph Hospital in Mount Sterling, Kentucky requesting medical treatment from a fall. Trooper James Ferrell, Trooper Thurman Paige and Mount Sterling Police Department responded to hospital. Mr. Prater was treated and released into police custody. Mr. Prater was arrested on a warrant and charged with Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree. Mr. Prater was transported and lodged at the Montgomery County Detention Center.

Wanton Endangerment Arrest in Rowan County

Date of News Release: 01/01/2014

(Morehead, KY) - On December 30, 2013 at 5:47 p.m. Kentucky State Police in Morehead received a call from Rowan County Department of Social Services in reference to a complaint of 9 children living at a residence. The allegations in the complaint stated there was no food and the children were being abused. Trooper Jay Cottrell, along with Rowan County Department of Social Services, responded to Igo Road in Rowan County. Upon arrival, 9 children were found living in deplorable conditions at the residence. The children's ages ranged from 2 months to 17 years old. All 9 children were removed from the residence. The 2 month old infant was admitted for treatment of malnutrition, dehydration and hypothermia. A second child was admitted as well, for malnutrition and dehydration, four other children were treated and released. Mother, Edith Strange, 35, of Morehead, was taken into custody and charged with Wanton Endangerment, 1ST Degree. Father, Johnathan Prater, 34, of Morehead, has also been charged with Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree, but has not been taken into custody. If anyone knows where Johnathan Prater is located at this time, contact the Morehead State Police Post. The incident remains under investigation by Trooper Jay Cottrell.
