KSP Investigates the Death of a Jessamine County Inmate

(Nicholasville, KY) -- The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post is investigating a death that happened at the Jessamine County Detention Center on Thursday, August 21, 2014.
Corey D. McQueary, 33 years old of Stanford, KY was found unresponsive by Deputies at the Jessamine County Detention Center at approximately 1:00 am, on August 21, 2014. He was taken to the Saint Joseph Hospital in Nicholasville where he was later pronounced deceased by the Jessamine County Coroner. An autopsy was performed on Thursday, August 21st, and the cause of death is under investigation.
Following the initial investigation, Michael B. Jones, 55 years old of Lexington, KY was charged with Murder, Promoting Contraband 1st Degree, and Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, on Thursday, August 21, 2014. He is lodged at the Jessamine County Detention Center. It is alleged that Jones smuggled a controlled substance into the detention center and provided it to Corey McQueary.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Detective Rodney Wren. He was assisted by the Jailer of the Jessamine County Detention Center, Jessamine County Coroner, and the Lexington Police Department.
