News Release

Pedestrian Killed in Madison County Collision

Date of News Release: 04/04/2014

(Richmond, KY) - On Thursday, April 3, 2014, at approximately 9:34 p.m. EDT, the Kentucky State Police responded to collision involving a pedestrian on Battlefield Memorial Highway (US-421 South) just north of Big Hill Road (HWY 21) in Madison County.

Initial investigation has revealed that a red 1998 Monte Carlo, operated by Clint Combs, 22 years old of Lancaster, KY, was traveling north on Battlefield Memorial Highway. Heather Holwerda, 38 years old of Berea, KY, was standing in the northbound lane near 9953 Battlefield Memorial Highway, when she was struck by the vehicle that Combs was operating.

Heather Holwerda was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Madison County Coroner.

At this time it does not appear that Clint Combs was under the influence of alcohol.

The collision is currently under investigation by Tpr. Tye Chavies. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Post 7 personnel, Madison County Sheriff's Office, Madison County Coroner, Madison County Fire Department, and the Madison County EMS.
