Additional Charges in Madison County Fatal Collision

Date of News Release: 02/11/2014

(Richmond, KY) - On Monday, February 10, 2014, the Kentucky State Police served an arrest warrant on Bryan M. Mangan for additional charges, following a fatal collision that claimed two lives on Sunday, February 9th in Madison County.

Based on the investigation by the KSP Collision Reconstruction Team, Bryan M. Mangan, 56 years old of South Bend, Indiana was charged with nine counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree and one count of Driving without License / Negligence in Accident. Mangan remains incarcerated in the Madison County Detention Center also charged with Driving Under the Influence 1st Offense (Aggravated) and Driving on a Suspended Operator's License.

The collision is currently under investigation by Tpr. Jack Hedges from the KSP Collision Reconstruction Team.

Two Killed in a DUI Collision on I-75 in Madison County

Date of News Release: 02/11/2014

(Richmond, KY) - On Sunday, February 9, 2014, at approximately 7:29 p.m. EST, the Kentucky State Police responded to a multi vehicle collision on I-75 northbound near mile marker 92 in Madison County.

Initial investigation has revealed that there were two fatalities after five vehicles were involved in a series of collisions, as a result of a collision involving a white 1999 Ford Explorer, operated by Bryan M. Mangan, 56 years old of South Bend, Indiana. Mangan was traveling north on I-75 near the 91.5 mile marker when he lost control of his vehicle, causing him to collide with a guardrail and other vehicles, before coming to rest partially blocking the left lane of the interstate while overturned.

Meredith L. Buscher, 22 years old of Richmond, was transported to the University of Kentucky hospital where she died as a result of her injuries.

Jeffrey R. Campbell, 30 years old of Louisville, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Madison County Coroner.

Clifford H. Steinhauer, 41 years old of Fort Thomas, KY, was transported to the University of Kentucky hospital for treatment.

Based on the initial investigation it appears that alcohol was a factor in the collision. Bryan M. Mangan, was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence 1st Offense (Aggravated) and Driving on a Suspended Operator's License. Mangan was arrest by Tpr. Phillip Powell and lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.

The collision is currently under investigation by Tpr. Jack Hedges from the KSP Collision Reconstruction Team. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Post 7 personnel, Madison County Sheriff's Office, Madison County Coroner, Richmond Fire Department, Madison County Fire Department, and the Madison County EMS.
