UPDATE: KSP is Investigating a Fatal Fire in Madison County

Date of News Release: 02/03/2014

(Richmond, KY)- The Kentucky State Police, Post 7 in Richmond is continuing to investigate the fire that occurred at 2583 Oakley Well Road in Madison County.

Autopsies were performed on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort. The autopsy concluded that all three victims were adults and died as a result of smoke inhalation. The victims were severely burned and the State Medical Examiner's Office was unable to positively identify them. The Kentucky State Police will continue to investigate the case in order to conclusively determine the identity of the victims.

Investigators with the Kentucky State Police have ruled the fire accidental and believe that the fire may have been caused by a wood stove that was in the residence.

The fire is under investigation by KSP Detective Jesse Armstrong and Arson Investigator Pat Alford. They were assisted by personnel from the KSP Post 7, Madison County Fire Department, State Fire Marshall, Madison County Coroner, and the State Medical Examiner's Office.

KSP is Investigating a Fatal Fire in Madison County

Date of News Release: 02/01/2014

(Richmond, KY)- The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post is currently investigating a fatal fire that occurred at 2583 Oakley Wells Road in rural Madison County.

On Saturday, February 1, 2014, KSP Post 7 was notified that there were deceased individuals located in a residence that caught on fire overnight. KSP is searching the debris of the destroyed residence, and has located three unidentified bodies located at this time.

The investigation is being conducted by KSP Arson Investigator Pat Alford and Detective Michael Keeton. They are being assisted by personnel from the KSP Post 7, Madison County Fire Department, State Fire Marshall, and the Madison County Coroner.
