Stolen Backhoe Leads to Three Arrests

Date of News Release: 05/06/2014

(Carrollton, KY) - Three people were arrested yesterday (5/5) in connection with a stolen backhoe in Carroll County. Kentucky State Police Post 5 received a call from the Kentucky State Highway Department advising that a backhoe they had been using for road work on Highway 467 had been stolen. Trooper Dave Roberts was dispatched and was able to locate the machine in a creek bed on Buffalo Creek Road. Trooper Roberts also discovered a Coca-Cola machine partially buried in the creek bed.

While analyzing the backhoe for evidence, Trooper Roberts discovered a receipt from the Save-a-Lot in Carrolton. The receipt led him to three individuals who all admitted they were involved in stealing both the backhoe and the Coca-Cola machine.

Jessika Higgerson, 18 years old from Carrollton, KY, was charged with Theft of Farm Equipment, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Criminal Mischief. Louis Reisner, 20 years old from Amite, LA, was charged with Theft of Farm Equipment, Tampering with Physical Evidence, two counts of Criminal Mischief, and TBUT All Other (Theft by Unlawful Taking - All Other covers the theft of the Coca-Cola machine). Kyle Knight, 18 years old from Pensacola, FL, was charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence, Criminal Mischief, and TBUT - All Other. All three were lodged at the Carroll County Detention Center.

Trooper Dave Roberts is leading the ongoing investigation.
