News Release

Four Seriously Injured in Carroll County Crash

Date of News Release: 02/26/2014

(Carrollton, KY) - Four people were injured in a two-vehicle collision this morning on Highway 36 in Carroll County. Troopers responded to the crash after Carroll County Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call at 11:36 a.m. Preliminary investigation shows that a vehicle driven by Donald Jeffries, 50 years old from Goshen, KY, was traveling east on Highway 36 when the vehicle crossed the center line for unknown reasons. Jeffries´ vehicle collided head-on with a west-bound vehicle driven by Stephen Wise, 37 years old from Carrollton, KY. Jeffries, who was not wearing a seat belt, was transported by ambulance to the Carroll County Memorial Hospital before being flown by the Air Care helicopter to the University of Cincinnati Hospital. Wise was flown by STATCARE to the University of Louisville Hospital. Nicole Wise, 34 years old from Carrollton, KY, was a passenger in the vehicle driven by Stephen Wise. She was flown by StatFlight to the University of Louisville Hospital. A juvenile passenger in Wise´s vehicle was flown by Air Methods, Inc. to Kosair Children´s Hospital in Louisville. Injuries to everyone in the crash are considered life threatening.

Trooper Dusty Corbin, an accident reconstructionist, is leading the ongoing investigation. Trooper Corbin was assisted at the scene by the Carroll County Sheriff´s Department, Carrollton Police Department, Carrollton Fire Department, Westside Fire Department, Carroll County Rescue, Carroll County EMS, and Dow Corning EMS.
