News Release

One Person Killed in Gallatin County Crash

Date of News Release: 01/17/2014

(Verona, KY) - One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision this afternoon on Highway 16 in Gallatin County. Troopers responded to the crash after Boone County Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call around 2:00 p.m. Preliminary investigation shows that a Toyota Corolla, driven by Linda Ruth, 59 years old from Glencoe, KY, was traveling south on Highway 16 when the vehicle hit a slick spot in the road. The vehicle crossed into the north bound lane and was hit by a Chevrolet truck driven by Albert Moore, 37 years old from Verona, KY. Ruth, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Gallatin County Coroner. Moore was transported to the University of Cincinnati Hospital for minor injuries.

Trooper Brandon Maupin, an accident reconstructionist, is leading the ongoing investigation. Trooper Maupin was assisted at the scene by the Gallatin County Sheriff's Department, Boone County Sheriff's Department, Verona Fire Department, and Verona EMS.
