News Release

Edmonson County Man Indicted

Date of News Release: 03/20/2014

(Bowling Green) - On Thursday March 20, 2014, Trooper Jonathan McChesney, arrested Barton Houchin (26) of Hwy 259 North in Edmonson County on numerous indictment warrants.

The first indictment was issued from Grayson County for one count of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd degree, and one count of Theft By Deception including cold checks U/$500. Houchin's bond is set at $5000.00 cash in this case.

The second indictment is a result of a criminal investigation by the Edmonson County Sheriff's Department in regards to a theft complaint that was responded to by Deputy Shane Doyle. In this indictment Houchin was charged with TBUT shoplifting U/$500, Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st degree 2nd offense, Prescription Controlled Substance Not In Proper Container 1st, Persistent Felony Offender 1st, TBUT or Disp. $500 or more but U/$10,000, Receiving Stolen Property U/$10,000, Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess, Poss. Cont. Sub 2nd Degree. Houchin's bond is set at $10,000 cash in this case.

The third indictment stems from a Burglary investigation that occurred in Smiths Grove Kentucky in February of 2014 at Johnny's Automotive. The business was burglarized two times within a three day period in which an estimated $3500.00 of property was stolen. Just days after the burglaries, Barton Houchin was found to be in possession of the majority of the items stolen from the business. On this indictment he was charged by Trooper Chris Newkirk on the counts of Receiving Stolen Property U/$10,000, as well as being Persistent Felony Offender 1st degree. Houchin's bond is set at $10,000 cash in this case.
