Two-Vehicle Injury Collision on I-24

Oak Grove, KY (Christian County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on I-24, approximately thirteen miles west of Oak Grove, on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at 8:06 p.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Andrew Thompson, 22 of Fort Campbell, KY, was operating a 1994 Ford F-150 eastbound on I-24 when an unidentified vehicle swerved in front of Mr. Thompson. Mr. Thompson braked to avoid colliding with the unidentified vehicle. A 2014 Nissan Versa driven by Bluma Marder, 72 of Highland Park IL, was being driven behind Mr. Thompson. Mrs. Marder was unable to avoid colliding with the rear of Mr. Thompson's vehicle. Both vehicles came to final rest on the right shoulder of the roadway.
Mrs. Marder was transported via ambulance to Jennie Stuart Hospital in Hopkinsville for treatment. She was wearing a seatbelt. There were no passengers involved.
Trooper Jeff Ayres investigated the collision. The Square Deal Volunteer Fire Department, Muhlenberg County EMS, and Christian County Sheriffs Deputies assisted at the scene.
