News Release

Non-Injury Collision Involving Tractor Trailer & Train

Date of News Release: 05/30/2014

Nortonville, KY (Hopkins County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a non-injury collision involving a tractor-trailer and a train that occurred near the intersection of Will Lane and US 41, on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at 5:38 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Paul W. Hanson, 57, of Beaver Dam, KY, was operating a 2013 Mack tractor-trailer eastbound on Will Lane. The tractor-trailer was hauling chickens. Mr. Hanson was attempting to make a left turn onto US 41 and had to stop on the railroad tracks due to traffic. The rear of the trailer was struck by a CSX train traveling northbound.

No injuries were reported as a result of the collision. Mr. Hanson was wearing a seatbelt.

Trooper Jonathan Murphy investigated the collision. Trooper Joseph Bartolotti assisted at the scene.
