Single-Vehicle Injury Collision on KY 949

Dunmor, KY (Muhlenberg County) - On Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 10:59 P.M., the Kentucky State Police investigated a single vehicle injury collision that occurred on KY 949.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Richard Hays of Dunmor, KY, was operating a 2009 Kia Optima northbound on KY 949 when several deer entered the roadway. Mr. Hay's swerved to miss the deer but struck one. When Mr. Hays swerved, it caused his vehicle to exit the right side of the roadway where he then struck a tree.
Mr. Hays was transported by ambulance to Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. Mr. Hays was wearing a seatbelt. There were no passengers involved.
Trooper Jacob Fortney investigated the collision. The Muhlenberg County Sherriff's Department, Dunmor Fire Department, and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
