Two-Vehicle Injury Collision On The WKP

Date of News Release: 03/27/2014

Greenville, KY (Muhlenberg County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on the Western Kentucky Parkway, at approximately the 51 mile-marker, on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 8:00 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Rachel E. McCready, 25, of Oak Grove, KY, was operating a 2009 Ford Fusion eastbound on the WKP. Robert N. Sigers, 43, of Greenville, KY, was operating a 2010 Mack tractor-trailer eastbound on the WKP traveling in front of Ms. McCready. Mr. Sigers' vehicle was hauling coal.

Ms. McCready swerved into the left lane of travel in order to avoid rear-ending Mr. Sigers' vehicle. In doing so, she lost control of her vehicle. It traveled into the median and back onto the roadway where it entered the path of Mr. Sigers' vehicle. The two vehicles collided on the roadway. Both vehicles came to rest on the road.

Ms. McCready was transported via ambulance to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. Mr. Sigers was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. There were no passengers involved.

Trooper Jerrod Hearld investigated the collision. Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
