Two-Vehicle Injury Collision on Madisonville Road

Date of News Release: 03/13/2014

Hopkinsville, KY (Christian County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on Madisonville Road, approximately three miles north of Hopkinsville, on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at 11:50 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Sherry Croft, 46, of Hopkinsville, KY, was operating a 2002 Chevrolet Impala northbound on Madisonville Road. Berin Gilley, 40, of Bicknell, IN, was operating a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze southbound on Madisonville Road. For an undetermined reason, Ms. Croft's vehicle crossed the centerline and side-swiped Mr. Gilley's vehicle. Mr. Gilley's vehicle exited the roadway and struck a tree. It came to rest off the road. Ms. Croft's vehicle exited the roadway and traveled through a yard where it struck a tree and a fence before coming to rest.

Ms. Croft and Mr. Gilley were not injured. Mr. Gilley's passenger (wife), Theresa Gilley, 38, of Bicknell, IN, was transported via ambulance to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment. All occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Trooper Michael Dennis investigated the collision. Trooper Luis Palmer, the Christian County Sheriff's Department, the West Side Fire Department, and Christian County EMS assisted at the scene.
