Date of News Release: 03/03/2014

Central City, KY (Muhlenberg County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on the Western Kentucky Parkway, at approximately the 54 mile-marker, on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at 3:04 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Dustin Pointer, 22, of Columbia, KY, was operating a 2009 Toyota Corolla westbound on the Western Kentucky Parkway when he lost control of the vehicle due to the hazardous conditions. The vehicle entered the median where Mr. Pointer overcorrected. It crossed both westbound lanes of travel and exited the right shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle struck a ditch/earth embankment and overturned. It came to rest on its driver's side off the roadway.

Mr. Pointer was transported by a private vehicle to Baptist Health Madisonville for treatment. He was wearing a seatbelt. There were no passengers involved.
