Single-Vehicle Injury Collision on I-24

Princeton, KY (Caldwell County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on Interstate 24, at approximately the 55 mile-marker, on Monday, February 3, 2014, at 11:34 a.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Deborah Vetzel, 54 of Cadiz, KY, was operating a 2002 Dodge Dakota eastbound on I-24. As Ms. Vetzel was attempting to pass a tractor-trailer that was in the travel (right) lane, her vehicle traveled over a patch of ice in the passing (left) lane which caused her to lose control. The vehicle exited the left side of the roadway and traveled into the median. It spun around and overturned. The vehicle came to rest on its top in the median.
Ms. Vetzel was transported via ambulance to the Trigg County Hospital for treatment. She was wearing a seatbelt. There were no passengers involved.
Trooper First Class Chris King investigated the collision. Trooper Billy Over, Caldwell County Fire & Rescue, and Caldwell County EMS assisted at the scene.
