Update: Kentucky State Police Investigating Fatal Fire in Muhlenberg County

Date of News Release: 01/30/2014

(Depoy, KY) - Trooper Stu Recke, Post 2 Public Affairs Officer, will be holding a press conference at 1:00 CST for all media on the grounds of the fatal fire. This location is 3734 Motes Lane, Depoy, KY. This residence is approximately 3.5 miles west of Greenville, KY.

A total of 11 persons were residing inside said residence at the time of the morning fire. The father and his daughter managed to escape the burning structure. Both of them have been flown via air ambulance to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. At this hour, their condition is not known.

It has now been confirmed that the other nine victims have been located inside the burned structure, all deceased.

The Kentucky State Police is the lead investigating agency. We are being assisted by the Kentucky State Fire Marshal and the Muhlenberg County Coroner’s Office. Other assisting agencies are: Greenville; Central City; Beechmont and Graham Fire Departments. Also, Muhlenberg County EMS; Greenville Police Department; American Red Cross; Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Department and Hawesville Fire Department Canine Team.

Kentucky State Police Investigating Fatal Fire in Muhlenberg County

Date of News Release: 01/30/2014

(Depoy, KY) - On Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 2:01 am (CST) a house fire was reported in rural Muhlenberg County. Responding fire fighters found a home fully engulfed in fire. Fatalities were reported and troopers assigned to the Madisonville Post of the Kentucky State Police responded.

Six victims were located in the fire scene with three additional victims suspected to be in the residence. Two victims, one adult and one child, were flown to Vanderbilt University Hospital for treatment.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
