Single-Vehicle Injury Collision on KY 70

Date of News Release: 01/23/2014

Midland, KY (Muhlenberg County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on KY 70, approximately four miles west of Midland, on Thursday, January 23, 2014, at 10:07 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Keith Gish, 45 of Central City, KY, was operating a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix westbound on KY 70. He was traveling behind a slower-moving vehicle, so he crossed into the eastbound lane to see if it was clear to pass. Another vehicle was approaching eastbound. He abruptly returned to the westbound lane and lost control of his vehicle. His vehicle exited the right side of the roadway and struck a ditch. The vehicle overturned and came to rest on its top partially in the ditch and partially in the westbound lane.

Mr. Gish, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was not injured. His passenger (wife), Belinda Gish, 45, was transported via ambulance to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. She was wearing a seatbelt.

Trooper Jerry Knight investigated the collision. The Bremen Volunteer Fire Department, the Graham Volunteer Fire Department, Muhlenberg County EMS, the Muhlenberg County Road Department, and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet assisted at the scene.
