News Release

Evansville Woman Charged with Two Felonies

Date of News Release: 02/20/2014

Henderson, KY - On Thursday, February 20, 2014, Kentucky State Police charged 37 year-old Tamela Thomas of Evansville with one (1) count of Robbery 1nd degree and one (1) count of Kidnapping (adult).

The investigation was initiated by the Kentucky State Police when the victim Tony Howell, Jr. reported he was robbed and kidnapped by Thomas. It was alleged that on January 16th, 2014, Thomas and Howell, who are acquaintances, were travelling together in a vehicle. They left Evansville and travelled to Henderson. Howell said Thomas pulled off U.S. 41 and forced him at gunpoint into the truck of the car. It was reported she took some of his personal property including currency.

Thomas then drove back to Evansville where at some point stopped her vehicle. Howell was able to use the trunk release to escape and seek help.

Through the investigation, troopers with the Kentucky State Police obtained a warrant for the charges of : One (1) count of Robbery 1st degree and one (1) count of Kidnapping (adult). Today 02/20/14, Evansville Police Department conducted a traffic stopped on Thomas and made the arrest. She was transported back to Henderson where she was charged with the two felonies.

Thomas is being held in the Henderson County Detention Center in Henderson.
