Hartford Juvenile Charged with Shooting at Another Juvenile
Date of News Release: 01/13/2014
(Henderson, KY) - On Sunday, January 12, 2014, Kentucky State Police Trooper Kyle Lashley and Trooper Jeremy Baker charged a 17 year-old Hartford juvenile with one (1) count of Assault 2nd degree, class C-Felony and one (1) count of Wanton Endangerment 2nd degree, which is a class A-Misdemeanor.
Kentucky State Police Troopers were notified by the Ohio County Sheriff's Department of a shooting around the 12000 block of US 231 north of Hartford. Troopers were told that four juveniles went squirrel hunting in some nearby woods earlier in the day. At some point around dusk, the 15 year-old victim decided to leave for home. For an unknown reason, the 17 year-old juvenile started shooting a .410 shotgun multiple times in the direction of the 15 year-old as he was running away. The 15 year-old, who was struck with the buckshot, had small whelps and superficial abrasions on his legs. He and his family did not seek medical treatment.
The 17 year-old was cited and released to his legal guardian.
The investigation is continuing.
