News Release

Human Remains Located Confirmed to be Missing Person Gerald L. Boyles

Date of News Release: 04/14/2014

(Ashland, KY) -- On Friday April 11, 2014 the Kentucky State Police in Ashland responded to South Shoe, KY after being contacted by the Greenup County Sheriff's Department. The Sheriff's Department, while searching for a robbery suspect, had located human skeletal remains. The remains were located in a small creek near the intersection of US 23 and State Route 1043.

Greenup County Coroner Neil Wright and The Kentucky State Medical Examiner's Office have positively identified the human skeletal remains as Gerald L. Boyles.

At this time Mr. Boyles death does not appear to be criminal in nature.

Update #2 - Missing Person Investigation

Date of News Release: 09/16/2013

(Ashland, KY) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland is seeking the publicís assistance in the ongoing investigation involving missing person, Gerald L. Boyles.

Gerald L. Boyles is currently entered as a missing person and at this time his location is still unknown. Mr. Boyles was last seen on Friday, September 13, 2013 at approximately 9:30 p.m. in the area of 44 Fifth Street South Shore, KY. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

The Kentucky State Police is asking the public to review any and all security/surveillance video and any game/trail cameras that may be mounted in the area in an attempt to assist with obtaining a possible location for Mr. Boyles.

The Kentucky State Police is asking the public for any information related to this case or the location of Boyles. Callers may remain anonymous and can call the Kentucky State Police at 1-800-222-5555 or 1-606-928-6421.

(South Shore, KY) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland is seeking the public's assistance regarding the disappearance of Gerald L. Boyles who has been missing since September 13, 2013 at 9:30 PM. Gerald is 75 years of age and was last seen in the area of 44 Fifth Street in South Shore, Kentucky. It is believed he left on foot from his residence. Gerald was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.
