Hindman Double Kwik Store Robbed

Date of News Release: 02/19/2014

(Hindman, KY) - On Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at approximately 11:21p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a call from the Hindman Double Kwik, located on KY Highway 80 in Hindman, advising that a male subject had just robbed the store. Troopers and detectives with KSP and Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement, as well as deputies with Knott County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene.

Employees with the store advised investigators that a tall, slender built male subject entered the store wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt, and khaki pants. He had a cloth covering his face, and was brandishing what appeared to be a handgun. The man demanded and obtained cash from the register, then exited the store. He got into a dark colored passenger car and left in an unknown direction. Store employees estimate that the subject got away with approximately $1300.00.

No one was injured during this incident, which is the second convenience store robbery in as many days in Knott County. The Cardinal Country Store, in the Fisty area of the county, was robbed at gunpoint late Monday evening. No connection has been made between the two at this time. Both robberies remain under investigation by KSP Post 13.
