News Release

Fatal Traffic Crash in Whitley County

Date of News Release: 06/16/2014

(LONDON, KY.) - On Sunday, June 15, 2014 at approximately 8:15 PM, the Kentucky State Police Post 11, London received a report of a fatal two vehicle collision on Devils Creek Road in Whitley County.

Upon arrival, Trooper Scott Bunch determined that a 1985, Chevrolet Pickup Truck operated by William O. Hinkle, 21, of Corbin was traveling east bound on Devils Creek Road when he crossed the center line and struck a 1976, Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling west bound operated by Michael J. King, 62, of Corbin.

King, who was wearing a helmet was pronounced dead at the scene by the Whitley County Coroners Office.

No drug or alcohol usage was suspected.

Trooper Bunch is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Trooper Tony Dingess, Whitley County EMS and the Oak Grove Fire Department.
