News Release

Arson Investigation and Arrest in Wayne County

Date of News Release: 06/04/2014

(LONDON, KY.) - On Thursday, May 22, 2014 at approximately 5:27 am the Kentucky State Police Post 11, London, received a request for assistance, from the Monticello Fire Department on a suspicious fire at the Wayne County Attorney's Office.

KSP Post 11 Arson Investigator, Detective Brian Lewis, responded to the scene and determined the fire to be Arson.

Through the course of the investigation Detective Lewis arrested James Rigney, 18, of Monticello.

Rigney was charged with Arson 2nd Degree, Burglary 2nd Degree, Theft by Unlawful Taking under $500.00 and Tampering with Physical Evidence and lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.

The investigation is continuing by Detective Brian Lewis and was assisted by KSP Detective John Barnett and the Monticello Police Department.
