Fatal Traffic Crash in Clay County

(LONDON, KY.) - On Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at approximately 5:52 PM, the Kentucky State Police Post 11, London received a report of a motorcycle traffic crash involving a fatality on north highway 66 in Clay County.
Upon arrival Trooper Jarrod Smith determined that a 1987, Suzuki Motorcycle operated by John Routh, 35, of Oneida, was traveling on north highway 66 when he lost control of his motorcycle, left the roadway and struck an embankment.
Routh, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clay County Coroners Office.
No drug or alcohol usage was suspected.
Trooper Jarrod Smith is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by the Clay County EMS.
