News Release

Assault 1st Investigation in Whitley County

Date of News Release: 05/14/2014

(London, KY.) - On Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at approximately 1:16 AM Kentucky State Police Post 11, London was notified of a shooting that had taken place on Little Spruce Creek Road in Whitley County.

Upon arrival troopers learned through an investigation that David C. Mcneil, 58, of Corbin had gunshot wounds to both feet. Further investigation revealed that Mark A. Paul, 41, of Corbin and Michael Skidmore, 39, of Corbin came to Mcneil's residence and started an argument resulting in Skidmore firing multiple rounds from a handgun striking Mcneil twice.

Skidmore and Paul then fled the scene but were later located and charged with Assault 1st Degree and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.

Mcneil was transported from the scene to the Baptist Regional Medical Center and later flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where he is being treated for his injuries.

Trooper Les Moses is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Trooper Tony Dingess, Trooper Brandon Creekmore, Trooper Jason McCowan, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Landry Collet, Williamsburg Police Department, Whitley County Sheriff's Office and Whitley County EMS.
