Drug Arrest and Investigation in Laurel County

(London, KY.) - On Saturday, May 10, 2014 at approximately 10:50 PM, KSP Sergeant Steve Walker stopped a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for a minor traffic violation on Arthur Ridge Road in Laurel County.
SGT Walker determined that the driver Mary K. Lucas, 44, of East Bernstadt was under the influence and was arrested. During the course of the investigation, approximately 38 grams of methamphetamine were located with an estimated street value of $11,700. Also located was prescription pills, Drug paraphernalia, scales, and plastic bags.
Lucas and her passenger, Heather Smith, 34, of East Bernstadt were both charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
KSP SGT Steve Walker is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Trooper Jason McCowan, Trooper Chris Roberts, and Constable Denver Mays.
