Bell County Brush Fires
Date of News Release: 03/15/2014
(Pineville, Ky.) - On March 15, 2014 at 1:49 p.m. Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call from the Pine Mountain State Park Rangers requesting assistance with fires at the Pine Mountain State Park. Post 10's Arson Investigator (Det. Josh Bunch) was contacted and responded to the scene.
Preliminary Investigation indicates that three separate brush fires are believed to be set intentionally. KSP are talking with neighbors trying to gain any information on who may have started the fires. The three fires at the Pine Mountain State Park are contained at this time.
KSP Post 10 Harlan is asking the public for any information on who may have started the fires. Anyone with information can call Post 10 at 606-573-3131 or contact the Arson Hotline at 1-800-272-7766.
This case is still under investigation by KSP Det. Josh Bunch. Also assisted at the scene were Kentucky Division of Forestry, Pine Mountain State Park Ranchers, Bell County Volunteer Fire Dept, Pineville Volunteer Fire Dept, and the Middlesboro Volunteer Fire Dept.
