Injury Collision on KY 111 in Fleming County

Date of News Release: 09/28/2013

(Flemingsburg, KY) - On Thursday September 27, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. Kentucky State Police received a call from Fleming County Dispatch requesting assistance with an injury accident on Ky 111, in Fleming County, Kentucky. 16 year old juvenile, of Flemingsburg, Kentucky was traveling southbound on Ky 111 when she attempted to pass a vehicle in front of her at a high rate of speed. She then lost control of her 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, over corrected, and then slid sideways and struck a culvert. The vehicle then hit a wood fence which sent the vehicle flipping end over end coming to final rest on its top. Kentucky State Police Trooper Michael Wathen, Trooper Patrick Zalone, Fleming County Sheriff, Hillsboro Fire Department, Fleming County EMS, Air Methods, and Kings Daughters Medical responded to the scene. The driver and front passenger were airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY. Four additional juveniles were taken via ambulance to Fleming County Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. After initial examination two more of the juveniles were transported to University of Kentucky Medical Center. All juveniles are listed in stable condition at this time. The accident remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Trooper Michael Wathen.
