Injury Collision in Clay City, KY

Date of News Release: 09/16/2013

(Clay City, KY) - On Sunday, September 15, 2013 at 8:57 PM Kentucky State Police in Morehead responded to a report of single vehicle rollover accident involving a Clay City Fire Department Water Tanker. Trooper Grant Falkner, Clay City PD, Powell County EMS, and Clay City Fire Department responded to the scene about the 7 mile marker on Hardwicks Creek Road near Clay City. Eric Strange, 34 of Clay City, was operating a 1999 Freightliner Water Tanker, owned by the Clay City Fire Department, south on Hardwicks Creek Road. While responding to a complaint, Mr. Strange exited the southbound shoulder of the roadway, into a ditch, and overcorrected in attempt to bring the truck back on to the roadway, causing the Water Tanker to overturn. Eric Strange along with two other passengers were flown from the scene to the University of Kentucky Hospital for treatment. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Grant Falkner.
