Rowan County Shooting Investigation

Date of News Release: 08/08/2013

(Morehead, KY) -- On Thursday, August 08, 2013 at 3:07 pm, Kentucky State Police was contacted by Morehead Dispatch in reference to a shooting at 530 Dry Creek Road in the Clearfield Community of Rowan County. Kentucky State Police Units and Rowan County EMS responded to the scene. Upon arrival units located Mr. Jamie Minix, 39 of Clearfield at the residence with an apparent gunshot wound. Through further investigation it was determined that Mr. Minix had been in a verbal argument with Mr. Craig Doscher, 63 of Clearfield when Mr. Doscher shot Mr. Minix. Mr. Doscher was later taken into custody and has been charged with Assault 1st Degree. Mr. Minix was transported from the scene to St. Claire Medical Center where he was later air lifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center. At this time Mr. Minix is currently listed in critical condition. This incident remains under investigation by Detective Toby Gardner.
