Trooper Involved Shooting in Clark County

(Winchester, KY) – On Tuesday, October 08, 2013, at approximately 10:34 am EDT, personnel from the Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement and Special Investigations East Branch along with the Clark County Sheriff Department responded to 1620 Cole Road in Clark County to investigate a drug tip.
Upon arrival, Joel D. Naselroad, 32 years old of Winchester, exited the residence and drew a handgun on two of the detectives. Kentucky State Police Detective Dennis Mabry fired his service weapon striking the suspect. The suspect was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Hospital for treatment. Joel Naselroad has been charged with two counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree of a Police Officer.
Detective Mabry is an 11-year veteran of the Kentucky State Police. No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident. The investigation is ongoing and being conducted by the Kentucky State Police.
