KSP Makes Attempted Murder Arrest in Lincoln County

(Crab Orchard, KY) -- On Friday, September 27, 2013 at 10:04 pm EDT, Danny Brummett of Crab Orchard was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder, Possession of a Handgun by Convicted Felon, Assault 1st Degree, Receiving Stolen Property U/$10,000, and Violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO. Danny Brummett has been lodged at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
The investigation began on May 9, 2013 when Danny Brummett attempted to shoot his wife Kay Brummett during an altercation at 919 Simpson Road in Crab Orchard. The shot missed Kay Brummett and struck the couple's granddaughter Monique Brummett, 18 years old of Crab Orchard, in the upper leg. Following the altercation Mr. Brummett was located with an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The case is currently under investigation by Detective Rodney Wren. He was assisted at the scene by troopers from KSP Richmond Post, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department, and East End Ambulance Service.
