Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post Investigates Serious Collision in Madison County

(Berea, KY) -- On Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 9:41 am EDT the Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post was notified of a single vehicle collision on KY 21/Big Hill Road east of Berea.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2012 Ford Focus operated by James Ratliff, 50 years old of Berea, was traveling west on KY 21 when the operator lost control, left the roadway and struck a fence and tree.
Mr. Ratliff was transported to the University of Kentucky for treatment of his injuries.
Seat belt use could not be determined.
The collision is under investigation by Trooper First Class Darrell Hutchison. He was assisted at the scene by Madison County EMS and the Berea Fire Department.
