Eight Graduate from Post 5 KSP Citizen's Police Academy

Date of News Release: 04/23/2013

(Campbellsburg, KY) -- Eight citizens from Oldham, Henry, and Carroll counties recently completed the KSP Citizen's Police Academy at Post 5 in Campbellsburg. Graduates were honored at a ceremony and dinner held at Our Best restaurant in Henry County on Monday, April 22. The twelve week program consisted of classes covering a wide variety of KSP operations such as crime-scene investigation, accident reconstruction, and traffic stops. Class members were also able to accompany Troopers on ride-alongs which gave them a better understanding of the challenges faced by law enforcement officers on a daily basis. While the program is not intended to turn citizens into law enforcement officers, it provides participants the opportunity to become better informed members of their communities and gives them a more complete view of the role of the State Police.

Anyone interested in participating in a future Citizen's Police Academy should contact Trooper Brad Arterburn at (502) 532-6363 to apply.
