Date of News Release: 04/15/2013

(RINEYVILLE, KY) -- On Sunday, April 14, 2013 at approximately 5:13 a.m. ET Tpr. Anthony Hardin responded to an injury crash near the 1051 block of Rineyville School Road. Upon his arrival Tpr. Hardin discovered the driver, Justin Claxton, 21, from Hastings, Florida was unconscious and unresponsive. The passenger, 22-year-old Amanda D. Jenkin from Vine Grove, KY was conscious, but seriously injured and trapped due to the position of the driver and damage to her side of the vehicle. Evidence of alcohol was discovered at the scene by Tpr. Hardin.

His preliminary investigation revealed that the 2006 white Chevrolet Pickup that Claxton was driving left the roadway and struck the mailbox at 1051 Rineyville School Road. It traveled through the front lawn, struck a tree and caused severe damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. It came to final rest against several small trees. Both subjects were transported by Hardin County EMS to Hardin Memorial Hospital and later flown to University of Louisville Hospital. Claxton sustained serious head trauma and was listed in critical condition. Jenkin sustained broken bones and possible internal injuries and was listed in serious condition.
