News Release

Single Vehicle Collision in Edmonson County

Date of News Release: 01/19/2013

(Bowling Green, KY) -- On Friday, January 18, 2013 at 8:35 P.M., Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green Trooper James Newkirk responded to KY 259 North in the Bee Spring Community regarding an injury collision.

According to Trooper Newkirk, Marshall Shartzer Jr (57) of Sweeden, KY was operating a 2008 Toyota Corolla travelling south on KY 259 when his vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned. Shartzer's passenger Ramona Shartzer (55) was transported to Twin Lakes Regional Hospital for her injuries sustained in the collision.

Marshall Shartzer Jr was not injured, and was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs 1st offense.

Both occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.

Trooper Newkirk was assisted by the Kyrock Volunteer Fire Department and the Edmonson County EMS.
