News Release

Criminal Arrest in White Plains, KY

Date of News Release: 10/18/2013

White Plains, KY (Hopkins County) - Trooper John Komar was patrolling in the city limits of White Plains when he observed a red Cadillac Seville at the intersection of Farmers Crossing Road and Franklin Street. Trooper Komar observed that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. Trooper Komar then turned his cruiser around to get behind the Cadillac and the driver noticed Trooper Komar and sped up in an attempt to flee. Trooper Komar activated his emergency equipment and was attempting to apprehend the driver when he drove through a gas station parking lot at a high rate of speed and it caused his vehicle to fishtail onto US62 where he regained control and then again sped off. Trooper Komar observed the driver pass another vehicle in a no passing zone at a high rate of speed and then he turned into the parking area behind the Whitaker Garage off US62 and slid to a stop in a parking area for semi trucks. The driver then exited his vehicle and began to walk off toward the garage building. Trooper Komar gave commands for the driver to stop but he failed to do so and continued inside the building. Trooper Komar went inside the building and was able to detain the driver without incident. The driver, h01Dylan R. Whitaker, 21 years old of White Plains, KY was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.

Trooper John Komar arrested Mr. Whitaker and charged him with the following offenses:

  1. Speeding 26 MPH or Greater over the Speed Limit
  2. Failure to Wear Seat Belts
  3. Driving on DUI Suspended License – 1ST Offense
  4. Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  5. Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
  6. Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd Degree (On Foot)
  7. Reckless Driving
  8. Improper Passing
  9. Giving Officer False Name or Address
