News Release

Two-Vehicle, Injury Collision on I-24

Date of News Release: 06/12/2013

(Christian County) -- Donald Coffey was operating a 2012 Jeep Wrangler on I-24 at the 88 Mile Marker in the eastbound lane of travel, in the construction work zone. Joel Warhurst was operating a 2004 Mazda Miata on I-24 in the eastbound lane of travel, behind Donald Coffey. Mr. Coffey was stopped in traffic in the right eastbound lane of travel. The front bumper of Mr. Warhurst's vehicle then struck the rear bumper of Mr. Coffey's vehicle, causing the rear portion of Mr. Coffey's vehicle to become airborne. The impact then caused Mr. Coffey's vehicle to exit the eastbound shoulder, into a ditch, where the vehicle came to final rest facing south. Mr. Warhurst's vehicle came to final rest in the middle of the eastbound lanes of travel, facing southeast. Mr. Warhurst was transported by Christian County EMS to Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, TN, for injuries sustained as a result of the collision.
