Powderly Woman Injured in a Collision on US 431

Beechmont, KY. (Muhlenberg County) – The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on US 431 in Beechmont, on Sunday, February 10, 2013, at approximately 1:10 p.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Steven Cottrell, age 47 of Powderly, KY, was operating a 1989 Dodge Ram pickup truck northbound on US 431. Mr. Cottrell attempted to avoid the vehicle in front of him that was turning into a driveway. He lost control of his vehicle and it exited the right shoulder of the roadway. The pickup truck struck a mailbox and a tree before coming to rest in a ditch.
Mr. Cottrell was not injured. His passenger (wife), Debbie Cottrell, age 44, was transported via ambulance to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. The Cottrell's were wearing seatbelts.
Trooper Craig Engler conducted the investigation. The Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Department, the Beechmont Volunteer Fire Department, and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
