KSP Detective Miller Graduates Criminalistics Academy

(Hickory, Ky.) - On Friday, October 11, 2013, Kentucky State Police Detective Brett Miller, of the Mayfield Post, graduated from the Kentucky Criminalistics Academy (KCA) in Richmond. KCA is made up of two five-week, 200-hour courses that instructors developed for full-time and newly appointed crime scene investigators and patrol officers who serve as Crime Scene Investigators for their agencies. In addition to sworn officers, the KCA is open to civilians who work for law enforcement agencies. The Crime Scene Technician course certification is one of two five-week courses officers can complete in crime-scene investigation. Friday's graduates completed the second five-week course. Detective Miller completed the first phase of the training in 2012, and the advanced, second phase last Friday.
