Two Injured in a Collision on Ky 274 in Lyon County

Date of News Release: 10/13/2013

(Hickory, Ky.) - Mr. Thomas D. Skinner was operating a 1992 F-150 North on Ky 274 when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle dropped of the left side of the roadway, went down a steep embankment, and came to final rest against a tree. The juvenile passenger was able to exit the vehicle and wave down a passing vehicle for help. A passer by to the accident was able to dial 911. Upon First Responders arrival, it was determined that Mr. Skinner was trapped inside the vehicle between the dashboard and steering wheel; and had to be extricated using the Jaws of Life. The juvenile was transported to Baptist Health-Paducah where she was treated and released. Mr. Skinner was later airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition. The Kentucky State Police was assisted on scene by the Eddyville Police Department, Lyon County EMS, Lyon County Rescue, Eddyville Fire Department, and the Trigg-Lyon Fire Department. The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Jonathon Ward.
